WS2
Modified Tungsten Disulfide

Due to its extensive and exclusive modification of Tungsten Disulfide lamellar structure, WS2 outperforms any other dry coating lubricant. A pressurized air application process impinges a dry metallic coating without heat, binders or adhesives. The lubricant coating bonds instantly to any metal or resin substrate with a thickness of 0.5 microns.

A high tech coating lubricant that reduces friction to 0.03, extends wear life… and solves problems in plastics, robotics, food processing, manufacturing, metal-working, automotive and medical clean room applications.

Benefits and Capabilities of WS2
  • Solves problems such as friction, excessive wear, seizing, galling and fretting.
  • Overcomes or reduces mechanical lubrication problems, improving performance and extending service life.
  • Eliminates and reduces costly maintenance problems that cause breakdowns and expensive downtime by stopping galling, fretting and friction caused by dissimilar metals and their different hardness factors.
  • Maintains the dimensional integrity of the substrate to within 0.5 microns with no build-up.
  • Withstands loads to 70kg/mm2 (or load capacity equal to substrate) and operates in the temperature range of -273ºC to 650ºC.
  • Offers 100% lubricity throughout its texture.
  • Is inert, inorganic, non-toxic, non-distortive, non-corrosive and resistant to most fuel solvents.
  • Is compatible with - and enhances the performance of - all oils and greases.
  • Resists carbon built-up due to its extremely low coefficient of friction, less than half that of graphite, Moly (MoS2) and Teflon.
  • Molecularly bonds to all materials and platings and can only be eliminated by removing the bonded substrate.

The WS2 advantage
Tungstenite is the chemical name given to the compound tungsten disulfide (WS2) which, in appearance, is a very fine black powder.
The process was developed in the early 1970's for aerospace applications . The unique properties of WS2 allowed it to withstand the severity of space missions.
WS2 has found extensive applications within the plastic moulding, die casting, textiles and food processing where sticking and adhesion are a problem and wet lubricants are intolerable. It is also a highly effective lubricant for use in vacuum chambers and clean rooms where galling and seizing are a problem in fasteners, chains and slides.
The coating is FDA approved and can hold up to the normal wash downs used in the food processing industry.

WS2 has been successfully used in:

  • Dies and moulds
  • Drawing and Punching Tools
  • Ball and Roller Bearings
  • Machine Tools, Pins, Taps
  • Engine and Drive Train Parts
  • Air Vibrators and Motors
  • Electrical Connectors
  • Circuit Breakers and Switches
  • Chucks, Collets and Tools
  • Electric motors
  • Compressors and Rheostats
  • Industrial Gears and Bearings
  • Slide Mechanisms
  • Timer Mechanisms
  • Pilot Valves, Chain Saws
  • Rubber Gaskets, "O" Ring Seals
  • Magnetic Heads
